Me too was an entrepreneur person and wanted to start a website of my own, to support my business. That was about one year ago. After researching a few web hosts, and taking advice of a couple of friends, experts in this field, I decided to go for the InMotion web hosting service. Now just about after one year, it is still going good for me. Here is my Honest review about this web host, divided in three parts, Features, Pros and Cons.
InMotion offers different types of web hosting, they are, VPS hosting, Shared hosting, Business hosting, Reseller hosting, Dedicated hosting and WordPress hosting.
Inmotion have 3 plans on shared hosting :
1. Launch, for $5.99/m, 2. Power, for $7.99/m, 3. Pro, for $13.99/m. in almost all of them we get many features, Free Domain, Free SSD, Unlimited disk space, transfer, email accounts, and email storage. Free advertising credits, PHP7,
2. Power, for $7.99/m, 3. Pro, for $13.99/m. in almost all of them we get many features, Free Domain, Free SSD, Unlimited disk space, transfer, email accounts, and email storage. Free advertising credits, PHP7,
3. Pro, for $13.99/m. in almost all of them we get many features, Free Domain, Free SSD, Unlimited disk space, transfer, email accounts, and email storage. Free advertising credits, PHP7,
in almost all of them we get many features, Free Domain, Free SSD, Unlimited disk space, transfer, email accounts, and email storage. Free advertising credits, PHP7, ruby, perl, python etc, Google apps integration, business class hardware, over 400 free applications, preinstalled WordPress, Joomla or PrestaShop, safe app roll-back, spam safe email with IMAP, and malware protection too. Well all this, so very good really. We get 2 supported websites in launch, 6 in power and unlimited in pro. The launch plan is not e-commerce ready but the other two are. These shaed hosting plans are more popular than the other types among the customers.
Inmotion VPS hosting plans:
1. VPS 1000HA-S, for $29.99/m,
2. VPS2000HA-S, for $49.99/m,
3. VPS3000HA-S, for $74.99/m.
Again 3 plans for dedicated hosting,
1. Essential, for $99.99/m,
2. Advanced, for $159.99/m,
3. Elite, for $229.99/m.
The reseller hosting has 3 plans,
1. R1000-S, for $13.99/m, (50% OFF)
2. R2000-S, for $13.99/m, (65% OFF)
3. R3000-S, for $27.49/m. (49% OFF)
The WordPress hosting plans are same as the Shared hosting plans though. I had bought previously the Launch plan of InMotion, but now I have upgraded to the Power plan, to get the benefits of e-commerce too.
I seriously say, their Customer Support is simply the best out there, they have their US-based tech support via phone, email, chat and a ticket system too. Whenever I contacted them for issues or doubts, I was quickly satisfied by their experts. They are really very experienced and knowledgeable.
Their average uptime is above the global average. For the last 12 months it was 99.97%. I hardly saw my website going down. Btw, the global average is 99.90%. See the difference.
Besides the fact that we get discounts on the InMotion plans externally, even they themselves give periodic discounts on their hosting plans. I took the benefit of one here. This is really amazing, hardly any other web host does this.
Since they use SSD for the data storage of our websites, the websites clock a faster load time than the global average consistently. It is around 596ms against the global average of 965ms. Pretty impressive that is. Many of my website customers noted that too me.
Money back Guarantee
InMotion boast of a whopping 90-day money back guarantee, that confident they are about themselves. Basically, I joined InMotion in the first place because of this, as I was satisfied, I never took it later. This 90-day period is the second best in the industry after the DreamHost’s 97day one.
Many Apps & Integrations
InMotion leads in supporting Open Source projects. Maybe hence they offer over 400 free applications to us in almost all their plans. Mouth watering really. Hardly any other web host offer these much for free.
They offer many security features. We get Sucuri security plugin for WordPress, which can be used to scan for malware and other security risks. We can purchase SSL certificates for $99.99/year, with an installation fee of $25. for our email accounts, there is the McAfee spam and virus protection.
Free site transfer
Unlike a majority other web hosts, who charge from $49 to $149, InMotion offers to transfer your site for free from your current host. I so much liked this. Lots of money saving, if you want to transfer here.
Now that I am experiencing the difference, the e-commerce support is really good. InMotion is one of the few web hosts with active partnerships between Prestashop and other leading eCommerce services. They also provide payment processors. So many advantages of this feature really.
Free data backups
The backup service of InMotion is really good. They will regularly create a backup of your account up to 10GB, and also provide an easy-to-use tool to manually backup your site. Because of this I get sound sleep, knowing that my site data is safe, even if anything happens.
Besides the above pros, there are others like Upsells are very few. I hardly got hassled by them about that. We get cPanel control panel, my favorite, and the most popular among all.
This aspect is very tricky. They advertise a low pricing, but it is only for 24 months period. Any time shorter than this, the prices increase. But this trick is employed by a majority of hosts. Even if you find the pricing to be higher, there is always the availability of discount coupons, and their own periodic discounts too.
Delayed verification process
InMotion requires all new customers to be verified by phone for security purposes. This actually means, no instant account access after our signup. They might even ask for a picture of your ID card. I found this very irritating and hassling, even though all this is for security processes.
Upon signing up with them, you agree to give them a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide right to do almost anything they want with your content hosted on their servers. That’s very bad though. Still, I haven’t experienced anything fishy yet.
Besides the above cons, the others are that the Shared hosting plans lack windows servers, these are only Linux plans. This might put off many potential customers. Then one thing I noticed that their basic web builder creates dated, old looking websites. Hope they fix these problems in general and web builder in particular.
One thing I want to say here is that all the Pros and Cons are very subjective. It depends on person to person, their requirements etc. A Pro point for one person can be a Con for other too. In the end, it is up to you to choose your hose wisely. As for InMotion, it is really a very good host. Solid support, faster, many freebies. And there is a 90-day money back guarantee if you didn’t like it. I will really recommend it to you all.
